Our Story

Bienen Königin was born from the desire to offer beekeepers in Romania and Europe queen bees that truly make a difference in the apiary. With years of experience in queen rearing and selection, we have developed a breeding program based on solid genetic principles and natural methods.

Our name, which means "Queen of the Bees" in German, reflects our commitment to excellence. Every queen we produce is the result of careful selection and optimal rearing conditions.

We work with carefully selected Carnica and Buckfast parent lines, raised at mountain stations at 800–1400 m altitude. All our queens are naturally mated, not artificially inseminated, ensuring superior genetic diversity and natural colony behavior.

Our selection process runs over years. We evaluate each parent line for gentleness, honey yield, varroa resistance, and overwintering performance. Daughters of the highest-performing queens are tested in real apiary conditions for at least one season before being propagated as breeder lines.

Our breeding and delivery season runs from mid-May through August. During this window we produce freshly mated, marked queens ready for immediate introduction into colonies. We take pre-orders for the 2026 season year-round — first semi-isolation queens 15–30 May, full reproductive-isolation queens from 5 June.
